The ALI's homestay program is open to all ALI students. The homestay with an American family provides a deeper cultural experience of Kansas City. Students participate in family activities, learn first hand about American culture, and make lifelong connection with Kansas City residents.

When you live on campus, you have the opportunity to interact with both U.S. and International students. This offers many benefits; from building connections with others in your field to learning how to work with other cultures. UMKC’s on-campus housing provides you with plenty of personal space while giving you a chance to be a part of the larger university community.
UMKC on-campus housing provides private or shared rooms and bathrooms. Meal Plans are required for all students staying in the dorms. Plans are also available for students living off campus. The cost varies depending on the room and the meal plan. Living on campus can cost from $1,125 to $1,365 per month depending on your housing and meal choices.
Visit UMKC Residential Life for more information on dormitories and meal plans.
UMKC partners with Campus Pads to provide off-campus housing options to all students.
Off-campus housing options include:
Unfortunately, due to the number of options, the ALI is unable to assist students in finding off-campus housing options. If students have a particular apartment or neighborhood in mind, they are welcome to ask our opinion, but we cannot contact landlords or real-estate companies, or make housing arrangements off-campus.
The ALI works with several vendors to provide housing options for special programs. If you are an ALI partner university or from an ALI partner university click below to learn about special rates and deadlines.
