Visiting Students

The ALI offers several unique programs for visiting students. Students can join our IEP, take academic courses, or participate in specialized short-term group programs. Explore the options below.

Iris Exchange Program

This full-semester exchange program is an exclusive program, only offered to students from UMKC's International Partnerships. The program allows students to study Intensive English or academics at UMKC at a discounted rate. Depending on English proficiency levels, students can take English language courses, academic courses, or both! 

The Iris Exchange Program includes Intensive English courses, Academic courses, Service Learning, and Social and Cultural Activities.

ALI Camps

The ALI's short-term, in-person, visiting programs cover a variety of topics and subject areas. Don't see the topic or subject area you need? Contact the ALI to learn about customizing your program today!

Winter Camp

Students in the ALI Winter Camp participate in ALI IEP classes and immersive US cultural experiences.

Summer Camp

This short-term program is open to high school and university age students. Participants engage in customized ESL classes and immersive US cultural activities.

Medical English Camp

This short-term program combines medical English with cultural and field experiences.

Business English Camp

This short-term program provides students with English language instruction focused on business communication and opportunities to engage with businesses and organizations in the Kansas City area.
