Looking for an internship?

Representatives from local companies will be on campus to discuss internship opportunities at their organizations.

What is on the program for the internship fair?

The fair will begin with a networking/refreshment session, followed by brief remarks from Tamara Falicov, dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and a UMKC alumnus who will describe their internship experience. You will then engage with between 8-10 different employers in sessions that change every seven minutes, speed-dating style.

How should I prepare for an in-person internship fair?

• Attend an SHSS Prepare for a Fair Workshop: February 7, 2023, 2pm–3pm, Atterbury Student Success Center, Rm TBD
• Schedule an appointment with UMKC Career Services to review your resume and craft your elevator pitch.
• Attend the pre-fair warm-up session February 16, 2023, 12:30pm–1:00pm, Atterbury Student Success Center, Rm TBD
• Complete your Handshake profile and upload your resume.
• Research participating employers and show your interest by following them on Handshake!
• Explore prep resources from UMKC Career Services.

What should I wear?

Professional dress is encouraged, but there is no dress code for this event. Check out the UMKC Professional Wardrobe Studio for assistance with securing professional clothes.
