Linking education to careers by assisting future professionals in finding meaningful internships.

Shape Your Career Future

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is committed to preparing students for their future careers by ensuring career readiness and integrating professional opportunities within majors. This commitment is achieved through:

  1. University Career Services Offices: These offices provide crucial support, offering guidance on career paths, resume building, and interview skills to prepare students for the job market.
  2. Internship Opportunities: By providing hands-on experience, internships bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills, enhancing students' employability.
  3. Career-Infusion in the Curriculum: Integrating career education directly into the academic curriculum ensures all students receive essential career preparation, regardless of background.

Through our partnership with the UMKC Career Services Office, students gain access to employment connections, career fairs, and valuable networking opportunities. Internships provide students with real-world skills, enriching their educational journey and supporting their professional development. These opportunities ensure students are well-prepared to pursue their career goals upon graduation.

The Mellon Humanities Internship Program helps match students majoring or minoring in the humanities with meaningful, paid internship experiences. Students in this program will learn how to apply their humanities education to a wide range of industries through career development workshops, alumni panels, and mentorship opportunities.
