About

Kevin Mullin is a leading expert in the media production process, optimizing audience impact for varying communication styles, such as narrative & documentary film, broadcast journalism, corporate, educational, training, marketing, legal, and television & radio programming. Mullin has been developing award winning video and multimedia programs for over twenty five years. As Studio Manager at UMKC’s Media Art & Design department, he oversees the department’s production & post-production facilities utilized by over 100 students and faculty every semester. He also teaches classes in the areas of Film & Media Arts and Electronic Journalism. In addition working over a decade at an NBC affiliate on both news and commercial programming, Mullin spent several years as Vice President of RMI Media Productions, a commercial and educational video production firm, and continues to work freelance production, winning several Telly Awards.


Mullin has served on the board of directors of the Kansas City Film Festival since 2010. Mullin’s first involvement with KC Filmfest was in 2004, when he worked as the 2nd Unit Camera Operator in Rob Nilsson's Direct Action Cinema workshop, which produced the narrative feature, "Opening", premiering at the KC Filmfest in 2006.
