Matthew H. Brittingham earned his PhD in Religion from Emory University (Jewish Religious Cultures, 2023). His dissertation, entitled "'No Heart for Faith': Depicting Freethinkers and Debating Freethought in the American Yiddish Press (1880s-1920s)," focused on how American Yiddish journalists wrote about freethought and freethinkers during the mass immigration period. Dr. Brittingham has also published peer-reviewed articles about post-World War II American Jewish history, contemporary Christian antisemitism, and Holocaust memory in American evangelicalism. He is an avid Yiddish translator and has taught courses in Jewish Studies, Religious Studies, and History at Emory University, Oxford College (part of the Emory system), Agnes Scott College, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
