About

Joan Dean teaches courses in drama and film, Renaissance and modern literature. Since coming to UMKC in 1975, she has served as dean of libraries, director of honors, and English Department chair. Her research focuses on modern Irish culture. Her interests include archival research, movies, and genealogy. Her publications on drama and film have appeared in the US, Ireland, Great Britain, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, and France.
