Dr. Jeff Rydberg-Cox, who joined UMKC in 2001, teaches and conducts research in the field of Classical and Ancient Studies. He is a Curators’ Distinguished Professor in the Department of English. He also serves as Director of the Classical and Ancient Studies program and the Co-Director of the UMKC Center for Digital and Public Humanities.
Professor Rydberg-Cox's research is focused on a range of topics, including statistical analysis of Ancient Greek texts, applying techniques from the field of network analysis to literary texts, and using Artificial Intelligence models to study the creation and use of manuscripts and early printed books.
In addition to his research, Professor Rydberg-Cox teaches various courses in Classical and Ancient Studies and Digital Humanities, including Classical Mythology, Ancient Greek and Roman Medicine, Digitization and Electronic Publication, and a Digital Humanities Seminar.
