Cassandra Allen is an office support assistant IV for English Language and Literature at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She was born and raised in Texas, and moved to KC to go to the Kansas City Art Institute, where she studied Illustration and Creative Writing. She says that she has always been interested in the craft of translating ideas into text and visuals, and has worked as a graphic designer and social media manager in the past. However, she says that she also values her ability to help others, and was having trouble fulfilling that part of herself working in retail businesses. She was drawn to working at UMKC because it created the opportunity to engage with students, faculty, and their work, and support them as they realize their visions.
