About

Dr. Shiu’s previous research and publications dealt with a number of interrelated literary and cultural concerns: Asian American, ethnic studies, turntablism/hip-hop music, political/legal theory, international adoption, video games, and blackface/yellowface minstrelsy. His next research project will deal with how popular literature—especially science fiction—by minority writers proposes and imagines alternative futures and new foundations for an America “to come.”
