Shiona is an Economics Ph.D. student at UMKC and holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Economics. Having studied economics for over 6 years, Shiona’s current interests lie in studying socio-economic issues that affect the BIPOC community.
Shiona is employed as a Project Manager for a tech company and works closely with a team of data associates and engineering to ensure proper execution of projects. She also has experience working as a Research Associate for Federal agencies such as Economic Research Service and the US Treasury.
While working on her PhD program, Shiona also works as a content creator and collaborates with various local and global brands. As an immigrant and first-generation student from Fiji, Shiona is passionate about exploring issues surrounding social equity and representation.
