K. Ryan Proctor is a criminologist whose research focuses on integrating criminological theory, neuroscience, and institutional theory to develop holistic explanations of crime and deviance. She's particularly interested in providing students with research opportunities to train the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists to tackle complex social problems. Her research has appeared in the American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, Criminology, Theoretical Criminology, and Journal of Criminal Justice. She is coauthor of the book Mechanistic Criminology, which demonstrates how the new mechanical philosophy of science can be used to spur rapid scientific progress in the fields of criminology and criminal justice.
