Every CJC Roo is a Steward of Justice! Students explore, learn, and serve through immersive courses and field experiences with victim services, federal agencies, police departments, the courts, and community-led initiatives. There are many ways you can contribute to justice, and we are committed to helping you identify how. 

There are five justice stewardship styles, and each provide a customized:

  • major map with a focus on suggested electives;
  • targeted field experiences, internships, and volunteering;
  • career options, career search tools, and areas for mentorship

  • driven by a desire to learn how the system works from a historical and contemporary standpoint?
  • focused on engaging within well established programs and building careers in known agencies?
    • You are a Traditional Steward!
  • driven by a desire to reduce harm within the system and community, and increase support for victims?
  • focused on trauma response and services to those harmed and those who commit harm?
    • You are an Advocate Steward!
  • driven by a desire to learn how to enhance and expand the system from within?
  • focused on enhancing and building up current methods and community action?
    • You are a Creator Steward!
  • driven by a desire to understand how systems work and change with informal/formal processes?
  • focused on creating systemic changes and/or developing policies to address inequalities?
    • You are a Policymaker Steward!
  • driven by a desire to dismantle traditional systems and build new ways of responding to harm?
  • focused on creating alternative responses and engaging with social movements?
    • You are an Activist Steward!
