Every CJC Roo is a Steward of Justice! Students explore, learn, and serve through immersive courses and field experiences with victim services, federal agencies, police departments, the courts, and community-led initiatives. There are many ways you can contribute to justice, and we are committed to helping you identify how.
Justice Stewardship Styles
Whatever your style, there's a place for you as a CJC Roo! Each justice stewardship style includes:
- A major map with a focus on suggested electives
- Targeted field experiences, internships, and volunteering
- Career options, career search tools, and areas for mentorship
Traditional steward
- Driven by a desire to learn how the system works from a historical and contemporary standpoint
- Focused on engaging within well established programs and building careers in known agencies
Advocate steward
- Driven by a desire to reduce harm within the system and community, and increase support for victims
- Focused on trauma response and services to those harmed and those who commit harm
Creator steward
- Driven by a desire to learn how to enhance and expand the system from within
- Focused on enhancing and building up current methods and community action
Policymaker steward
- Driven by a desire to understand how systems work and change with informal/formal processes
- Focused on creating systemic changes and/or developing policies to address inequalities
Activist steward
- Driven by a desire to dismantle traditional systems and build new ways of responding to harm
- Focused on creating alternative responses and engaging with social movements
