Teletandem English Language Instruction (TELL) provides instructors from our international partners a free or low-cost opportunity to learn new teaching approaches and practices.
TELL length varies: shorter models last 1-2 weeks while longer models last 4-6 weeks. The ALI offers 3 types of TELL exchange:
- Paired Model — An updated version of a pen pal, using email and social media. It can be information exchange, creative projects, or critical analyses of current events or course themes.
- Multimodal Projects — These integrate digital and media literacy into a course, in the forms of blogs, vlogs, or podcasts. It can also integrate research writing skills with digital literacy as students create or expand on a Wikipedia article.
- Whole Class Activities — Students in one class design an activity for the tandem class to participate in.
