Looking for an extra boost to help you ace your degree? We've got your back! The ALI provides two great English support options specifically for academic students at UMKC.
Tutoring
The ALI offers tutoring to academic students. The curriculum is tailored to meet each student's individual needs. Tutoring sessions can be scheduled around a student's class schedule. Students can request tutoring at any time during the semester. Tutoring is subject to instructor/tutor availability. The earlier a student requests tutoring, the more likely they are to receive it.
Cost of Tutoring
Non-credit tutoring is $50 per hour. Students pay the ALI directly using the online Marketplace.
Students may also request for-credit tutoring. In this case, students will be billed for a set number of credit hours. The charge will appear on their UMKC bill on Pathway.

ALI Classes
The ALI offers a variety of English courses that can supplement your studies. While not required, these classes are a great resource for academic students looking to sharpen their language skills and gain an extra edge in their degree programs.
Academic students may choose to join one or two ALI classes, based on their English proficiency and academic needs.
Cost of ALI Classes
ALI classes are university classes. Students pay the university's base tuition rate for ALI classes. Your exact cost will be based on your status as a resident or non-resident. Contact the ALI with specific cost questions.
Enrollment
You cannot register for ALI classes on Pathway. This is to ensure students register for classes that best match their English proficiency. Contact the ALI or your Roo Advisor for registration assistance.
